Stress Testing, Load Testing, Vulcanization, Molding and dozens of other applications require the use of a Pressure Gauge to accurately measure the force being delivered.
Gauges come in a standard analog version (moving needle), an electronic digital readout version and some models even offer a combination digital/analog reading.
The analog/needle gauges often are liquid filled to dampen needle vibration and generally read to 10,000 PSI followed by a Red DANGER ZONE. Recently, besides reading in standard PSI a few also have added a BAR reading.
Gauges measure in different increments of 10,000 PSI, 50 pounds, 100 pounds, 150 pounds, etc...
Also, special gauges can be ordered to read in TONS of force, but MUST be matched with with the Bore of a specific cylinder. For instance, a gauge designed to measure Tons of Force from a 50 ton cylinder will not give correct readings if attached to a 20 ton cylinder.
Gauges usually come with a 1/4" NPT male fitting and because most Industrial Hydraulic fittings are 3/8", a special 3/8" NPT GAUGE ADAPTER is needed to install a gauge into a system.
